Presentation
Terry and Debbie Hill have been married for more than 40 years. They have three grown children and eight grandchildren living in Alaska, Montana, and Texas. They are grateful and thrilled that their children are faithfully serving God in churches where they live.
A native Texan, Terry and his family were called from their pastorate in Amarillo,Texas, to launch a new church Anchorage, Alaska in 1985. For 23 years they were the recipients of God s blessing in developing a healthy, strong and growing church. Rabbit Creek Community Church is one of the great churches in the northwest U.S.
In 2008 Terry and Debbie were led to leave their home and beloved church in Anchorage, to launch Yucatan Outreach Ministries. Their experiences in life and ministry, including the Purpose-Driven church paradigm, are woven into the strategy of Yucatan Outreach Ministries. Terry and Debbie are a team that humbly demonstrates the calling, desire, and ability to lead a church launching and equipping ministry.
What We Believe
What we believe about GOD: God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.
What we believe about JESUS CHRIST: Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus was born on earth of the Virgin Mary. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven's glory and will return again some day to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.
What we believe about the HOLY SPIRIT: The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer a spiritual gift when they are saved. As Christians we seek to live under His control daily.
What we believe about the BIBLE: The Bible is God's Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is the truth without any mixture of error.
What we believe about HUMAN BEINGS: People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God's creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called "sin". This attitude separates people from God and causes many problems in life.
What we believe about SALVATION: Salvation is God's free gift to us but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ and God's offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin's penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith, we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.
What we believe about ETERNAL MATTERS-Because God gives us eternal life through Jesus we have:
SECURITY: Christ; the true believer is secure in that salvation is for eternity. If you have been genuinely saved, you cannot "lose" it. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives us this security.
ETERNITY: People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is Eternal Life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.
What We Do
WANT TO INVEST A WEEK OR TWO IN A SHORT TERM MISSION?
We could have a place for you and your team to serve!
Drop us a note at Terry_YucatanOutreachMinistries.org and tell us about the gifts and skill set of the prospective people on your mission team. If we can match you and your team with needs and ministries here, we’ll do it.
Mission Trips are a thrill for the short term missionary as well as for the people and places you go. At Yucatan Outreach Ministries we ask teams to focus on building bridges to the people in our area. That is a main priority. Besides that you may have what it takes to do evangelism, home repairs, flier distribution, teach a group of kids or adults in a Mayan village how to implement proper personal hygiene, or how to keep their makeshift kitchen clean with limited clean water. The possibilities and the probabilities are virtually limitless. God can use you greatly on a short term trip to the Yucatan, in Mexico.
You’ll help others, and you’ll be changed! Give it a shot. Give us a shout.
A team can consist of from two to ten people. Call! We’ll discuss your ideas, schedule, and the details. 214-377-0411
Lighthouse Church, Tulum was launched on November 29, 2009. About 12 people from the local area served on the Launch Team, meeting two hours per week for 12 weeks prior to the launch. Week after week the launch strategy was developed and prayed over. Each time the Launch Team met we had a time of fellowship, prayer, received an offering, and ultimately the team was divided into five sub-groups to zero in on specific tasks in preparation for launch day. We had a sort of dry-run rehearsal in order to identify some shortcomings, kinks, and strengths.
Lighthouse Church, Tulum launched with 32 people in attendance. From then until now, (11 months) we have been blessed with increasing church health and growth. Ten people have followed Jesus in believers baptism, and another baptism is scheduled for November 28. Our baptisms are usually in the Caribbean Sea, but a couple of baptisms have been in a swimming pool. Usually there is a party with the baptisms to celebrate these spiritual next steps in the lives of the baptismal candidates.
Attendance has been more than 50 people for seven weeks in a row, with a couple of Sundays attendance going over 60.
Small Groups are a mainstay at Lighthouse Church. There are three very active and healthy Small Groups, with plans to add at least one more in January, 2011. The model for Small Groups is taken from the New Testament book of Acts.
Lighthouse Church operates according to the Purpose-Driven paradigm. Pastor Rick Warren, author of The Purpose Driven Church and The Purpose Driven Life, has trained hundreds of thousands of pastors around the world how to apply the purposes of the church, which are discovered in Gods word, the Bible, in Matthew 22 and Matthew 28.
Yucatan Outreach Ministries and Lighthouse Church, Tulums Vision 2015, calls for the launching of at least two other English-speaking churches on the Riviera Maya. We are praying for Gods provision for pastors and funding to launch those churches. If you would like to give toward that end, see our Donations page. Pastors, if you would like to talk to Terry Hill, Executive Director of Yucatan Outreach Ministries and Pastor of Lighthouse Church, Tulum, email him and introduce yourself at Terry_YucatanOutreachMinistries.org.
Most importantly, pray for the ministry outreach here on the Riviera Maya. We would love to hear from you that you are praying and standing with us, in Jesus Name.
